Marine life of the Oregon Coast is on display at the South Slough Reserve Visitor Center this winter at “Portraits of Nature,” an exhibit of portrait-style photography of local marine organisms by MacKenna Hainey. The subjects of the exhibit range from marine fish and invertebrates to fungi, local mammal and bird skulls, landscapes and seascapes. Visitors are invited to take a deeper look at the function, form, and structure of unconventional and familiar features with these portraits.
Hainey attended the Oregon Institute of Marine Biology and recently worked as an aquarist and educator at the Charleston Marine Life Center. Her photographs appeared in the story “Over the Moon About Jellies,” in the Spring 2019 issue of Oregon Coast magazine.
