Highway 101, an official All American Road, is the artery that ties together the Oregon Coast. The Mile-by-Mile Guide to Highway 101 has been designed to make your journey more interesting by identifying the natural, historical, and recreational sites and attractions along the route. The Oregon Department of Transportation has placed milepost markers all along Hwy 101. We use actual markers, Beginning at 0.0—the south end of the Megler Bridge, which carries Highway 101 across the Columbia River—and reach 363 at the California– Oregon state line. The actual mileposts may not match your odometer because of changes that have taken place since the numbering system was established. We start over with 0.0 at the California border. There are two loops within the guide. The milepost numbers for these are indicated in blue.
To help you explore, this guide has been organized into four distinct sub regions. As you roam, take your time. Come hear the stories, relax in our sunshine, and marvel at this land called the Oregon Coast.
